Meet The Founders

GMYS was founded by four New England parents, coaches, and community members who believe every kid deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of sports.

We came together through a shared love of sports, our community, and our kids. We founded GMYS in August 2025 to create more opportunities for young athletes to play, grow, compete, and build lasting connections through sport.

Cameron Feldman

Strategy & Operations

Cameron founded GMYS after seeing the need to create more opportunities for young athletes. He brought the organization's four founding directors together in 2025, building a team that combines athletic experience, coaching, business expertise, and a shared commitment to the community. Cameron leads GMYS's strategy, operations, and long-term growth.

Community & Fundraising

Sam Handy

Sam brings his passion for coaching, community, and entrepreneurship to GMYS. He is also the founder of Champ Water, a hydration company created with athletes in mind. At GMYS, Sam focuses on community engagement and fundraising while making sure kids are developing their skills and, most importantly, having fun.

Taylor Coppenrath

Outreach & Leadership

Taylor brings a lifetime of basketball experience and a deep connection to Vermont's sports community to GMYS. A former professional basketball player, Taylor is best known locally for leading the University of Vermont men's basketball team to its historic NCAA Tournament upset of Syracuse in 2005. He brings that experience, leadership, and passion for developing young athletes to GMYS.

Finance & Coaching

Jim Harton

Jim brings both financial expertise and years of coaching experience to GMYS. He co-owns an accounting firm with his twin brother, Jeff, and has coached both of his daughters throughout their youth sports careers. One of those daughters has gone on to become the head coach of the Essex High School team — a reflection of the lasting impact that great coaches can have on young athletes.

Why We Started GMYS

While coaching, we saw firsthand the challenges rural teams face competing with teams from larger, more populated communities.

We believe every kid should have the opportunity to play, with access to quality coaching, equipment, facilities, and meaningful competition — regardless of where they live, their family's financial circumstances, or their physical abilities.

That's why we started GMYS.
